Date approximate. Renumbered 4/52. Stored at Brewster 6/57. To Canton Iron & Metal 3/12/63. Interesting fact about this shot, if you watch the Herron Rail Video called "Steam & Diesel on the Nickel Plate Vol 3" around the 34 minute mark you will see this exact moment. You can't tell from this shot but the engine was running light at the time.

Fred Stuckmann General That's a 57 Dodge first out, so late 56 or after for a date. 8/17/2012 2:41:56 PM
Tim Darnell General Neat shot, train & cars! 8/17/2012 4:17:25 PM

dave notgiven General Believe picture is looking west on/from the Portage River bridge downtown Fremont, Ohio. My Dad hired as fireman on the W&LE in 1927, sat in his lap many times going over this crossing. The 815 is west bound. Thought first car was '56 or '57 Dodge or DeSoto, third car looks like a '55 Olds, 4th '55ish Ford. Timetable speed limit through Fremont was 35mph, with 25mph over Main St. crossing (W. State St.), engine only (this crossing - iirc both city ordnances). I ran diesels over this same crossing for the NKP/NW, now retired too. Looks like winter/early spring judging by the snow on the roof (upper right, bldg with turret and no leaves on tree right in front of it). 10/27/2012 2:48:15 AM
dave notgiven General CORRECTION to previous - river through Fremont is Sandusky River..not Portage. Sorry, old timers brain fade. 10/27/2012 2:59:24 AM
